A place that was busy and bustling before the bypass was built, now is a quite town with nice old buildings and a relaxed pace. Stop for rest or visit will visitng touring the Southern Highlands.

Goulburn is three to four hours south of sydney and a major rural town. its historical past was well serviced by stage coach routes and its mainly a sheep and cereal farming area.

A nice place to go for drive. Stopped in down here to go to the War memorial. A very historic town. There is a nice lookout where you can see the whole town from called Rocky Hill.

On our annual holiday down south we used to stop at Goulburn to stretch our legs and and some food. It always used to make me laugh when we drove past the big Merino.

Ever since the freeway bypass was built, the traffic has thinned out but Goulburn remains a good halfway point to either the Snowfields/Canberra or points south. I still remember the richness of the chocolate milkshake at the Paragon Cafe, ummmm

Even on Christmas day, this place is cold and windy! Watch out for the kangaroos on the highway in dry times. Good place to stop on the way to Canberra. Try the local cafes. Go to Lake Bathurst for a coffee if you like trains, there is a train museum, a bit like stepping back in time
