A short ferry ride from Townsville a magnificent place to stay catering to every type of tourist and with some of the most beautiful beaches anywhere. A new ferry harbour has been created to increase the capacity of tourists to enjoy this jewel in Qlds crown.

Magnetic Island is slowly developing since I was there. Although a lot of backpackers rest here on the Sydney-Cairns route, there is now a lot of waterfront residential development. Hopefully this won\'t destroy the ambience of the island.

Loved Magnetic Island. It is great. A short ferry ride from Townsville. When I was there I encountered a sting-ray in the water. This was different. It just swam away. The beaches are wonderful, the scenery is majestic. Magnetic Island is a mountainous island with high cliffs and rocky outcrops. The people are secular but accomodating. I love the old Pub in Picnic Bay. Great Backpacker accommodation and luxurious accommodation. I good place to go if you want to have a island holiday without paying the earth for it. Loved It.
