Reviews of Parkes
Rating: 8 out of 5
TRUDIE - January 2002
Great little town. Parkes is most famous for its Radio Telescope that featured in the movie `The Dish\". Apart from that it is a small country town.

It is worth visiting the CSIRO Radio Telescope Visitor\'s Centre 23kms from Parkes. For history buffs the Henry Parkes Library is an interesting historical diversion- not much else really.

Parkes can get very hot. It is the main base to see the dish and the locals know it. Everything in town is centered on this tourist attraction.

I don\'t recall much about Parkes except my aunty lived their and the place was surrounded by sheep. Of course it\'s claim to fame is \"The Dish\" which the Australian movie of teh same name is based on. A piece of Australian history, pivotal in the world\'s history. I\'m glad I got the chance to see it, albeit it from a distance thanks to the fences.
